I am wonderful!

I ran my first 5K race today.  There will be no photos; it wasn't pretty.  My time was 38:31 and I think I was the last 5K runner to cross the finish line.  Okay, maybe a couple of really overweight ladies were behind me too.  But I didn't let any of the walkers beat me.  And I fulfilled a goal that I set at the beginning of the year.  Tom and the kids were there to watch and cheer me across the finish line.  (Megan says it was truly boring; they couldn't even see the runners.)  I found out that it is possible for me to bawl while running.  Tomorrow I may not be able to walk.  But today I am awesome!

Humpty Dumpty Day

The kindergarteners are studying nursery rhymes, so today was Humpty Dumpty day.  The kids brought a raw egg from home, packaged up in a way they hoped would cushion it from a fall.  Then the custodian took them up on the roof and threw them off.  It was great fun.  Danny cushioned his with cotton and popcorn, and it survived!

Snow day!

There is no happier day in my kids' life than one in which they wake up to falling snow.  Here in the Pacific Northwest, 1/2" is enough to cancel school, and it only happens twice a year or so.

Busy this week

No pictures this week, but just wanted to announce that I have not dropped off the face of the earth.  We are potty training these days.  It seemed like it was going to be a piece of cake; she already poops consistently in the potty and can pee on demand in the potty.  Sometimes she's been staying dry all morning.  So I decided to try the 72-hour intensive potty training method and say goodbye to diapers forever!  She immediately responded by refusing to even go near the bathroom.  Yesterday was a miserable day of cleaning up puddle after puddle and doing lots of extra laundry just to be able to keep up with the demand for training pants.  Today is going better, maybe 50% success.  Will we survive?  Will she be potty trained by tomorrow night?  Will her daddy actually follow the training method I have begun while I am at worldwide leadership training tomorrow?  Tune in later.....

Danny's Pumpkin Patch Field Trip--October 2010

Here are the pictures from Danny's kindergarten field trip in October, which I took with my phone and couldn't get my computer to read at the time.  Sarah and I were able to go along as long as we drove our own car.  It was very wet and squishy out there, and the most memorable part of the day for me was getting stuck in the mud and having to be pulled out of a cornfield by a tractor!  Danny was able to pick and eat an apple from the orchard and then choose his own pumpkin from the field.  He and Sarah had a good time in the hay maze, and then Danny bought a caramel apple at the stand, which was his first ever!  It was a good day.

A little catch-up

I may have finally figured out how to access my pictures from my cell phone.  Here is my favorite one from our last visit to Grandma Mugleston's house.  Spencer and Roma were there with their kids, too.  We all went to see "Tangled" at the theater and Brendan and Sarah were so sweet holding hands in the lobby.  I wish we could see cousins every day!
